Christmas Gingerbread – Same/Different

2.50

Description

This resource is aimed at infant/junior pupils or SEN pupils. It is based on learning and visual discrimination with a “Christmas Gingerbread” theme.

There are three cards printed per A4 page. Cut up the sheets into thirty separate cards and laminate each of the cards individually. Pupils should look at the two Gingerbread images on the top of each card. The pupil should then decide whether both images are the same or different. The teacher/supporting adult should initially teach the pupil to look at the face, the smile/grimace, the head to see what is the same or different.

The pupil should then attach a clothes peg to the appropriate word on the bottom of the card.

In the pack, 15 cards display images that re the same and 15 cards that are different. The teacher should mix the cards up when the pupil has mastered the activity sufficiently.

This activity is especially suitable for pupils who may not be able to write answers but are good at visual discrimination. It is also good for fine motor skills in the manipulation of the pegs onto the cards.

We frequently gave activities such as this for homework to our SEN pupils. It gave them the sense that they had homework like everyone else and it also allowed the parents to see what language topic we were currently working on.

Activities such as these were also used as Independent work completed by SEN pupils in their work station.
