Description
This resource is aimed at junior/middle pupils or SEN pupils at the beginning of literacy work on comprehension. There are twenty-four cards in this pack.
An explanation/clue sentence is on the left hand side of each card.
Either the pupil reads the story themselves, or the teacher/SNA/supporting adult reads the story to the pupil.
Cut up the sheets into twenty-four separate cards and laminate them individually. Either the pupil or teacher/SNA/supporting adult should read the clue sentence on the left of each card and the pupil should then place a clothes peg on the correct answer on the right of the card.
This activity is especially suitable for pupils who may not be able to write answers but can understand and comprehend. It is a way for them to demonstrate their comprehension and knowledge of vocabulary. It is also good for fine motor skills in the manipulation of the pegs onto the cards.
This pack could be split into two separate packs of twelve cards.
This pack could be used for a Station as part of a Literacy Station Teaching session.
We frequently gave activities such as this for homework to our SEN pupils. It gave them the sense that they had homework like everyone else and it also allowed the parents to see what literacy topic we were currently working on.
This activity would also work well as an independent task to be completed by the pupil in their work station.
