Match Upper-Lower Case 01

2.00 1.50

Description

This resource is aimed at pupils in junior classes or SEN pupils at the beginning of literacy work on letter recognition. Cut up the sheets into twenty-six separate cards and laminate them individually. Pupils should firstly look at the capital letter at the top of the card. They should then try to identify its matching lower case letter at the bottom of the card from the three options given. They should then place a clothes peg on the correct answer.

This activity is especially suitable for pupils who may not be able to write answers but can match the upper and lower case letters. It is a way for them to demonstrate their understanding of letter association. It is also good for fine motor skills in the manipulation of the pegs onto the cards.

We frequently gave activities such as this for homework to our SEN pupils. It gave them the sense that they had homework like everyone else and it also allowed the parents to see what literacy topic we were currently working on.

Activities such as these were also used as Independent work completed by SEN pupils in their work station.

This resource would also be perfectly suitable for a literacy station in Station Teaching in a junior class where a set of these cards is provided for each pupil in the group.
