Match the Word 02

1.00

Description

This resource is aimed at junior pupils or SEN pupils at the beginning of learning to read. Its aim is to help pupils to build up a sight vocabulary. The words are based on vocabulary in the early stages of the Oxford Reading Tree (Biff, Chip and Kipper) series of books. Words in this pack are: mummy, car, ball, daddy, house, dog, book, doll.

Cut up the sheets into eight separate cards and laminate them individually. Pupils should look at the word in red at the top of the card and try to find the matching word at the bottom of the card. The pupils should then place a clothes peg on the matching word.

This activity is especially suitable for pupils who may not be able to write answers but can match words. It is a way for them to demonstrate their knowledge of sight words. It is also good for fine motor skills in the manipulation of the pegs onto the cards.
